How to pick outfits for your family
While the focus will be on baby, I always encourage mothers to include their family into their newborn photos. It’ll be wonderful for the baby to be able to look back at these images and see how excited the entire family was to welcome him or her into this world. Here are some tips for including family into your newborn photos:
Coordinating outfits work great but please don’t wear matching outfits. It’s so nice when outfits complement each other but everyone’s personality and style still shows through the choice of clothing they wear.
Avoid patterns, as they tend to be distracting for this type of session.
As far as colors go, neutrals are always lovely. Or, if you prefer color, include pops of color in a scarf or cardigan, or go for solid colours for example.
No logos or #’s which draws the eye to that place in an image first.
For IN Studio shooting shoes are rarely photographed. We aim to photograph from the knees up.
*** When photographing on a dark background a darker selection like black can really make any skin tone pop, when choosing colours jewel tones also look phenomenal, if they look good on you examples, burgundy, mustard, dark blue/navy, royal red, deep yellow.
If you are planning to have dad do some skin on skin images with the baby, making sure underwear dosnt come past the pant like is recommended, unless your wanting to have your designer underwear as the focal point, as most have branding and text on the band. were are trying to avoid text and numbers, logos if possible.
*** When photographing on a light background light and airy colours really lift the dreaminess of white.
Complimentary colours to your skin tone is key when choosing outfits
The pairings below can be done with any colour pallet you chose. These are a visual so you know how to spread the tones across multiple persons.
